Horizon Care & Education completes its integration with Key2 and renames the division Horizon Supported Accommodation

Horizon is excited to announce that Key2 has been renamed Horizon Supported Accommodation as it prepares for the Department for Education’s plans to regulate supported accommodation for looked after children and care leavers aged 16 and 17.

This change will enable Horizon to anchor its identity within the sector as a distinct, united brand which encompasses the provision of children’s homes, specialist education and supported accommodation across England.

Key2 was founded in 2004 and became part of Horizon in 2017. While the division will no longer be referred to as Key2, Horizon aims to uphold its legacy, and the same team will continue to deliver exceptional support to its young people, making their journey to independent living as enriching as possible.

Steven Bainbridge, Quality, Risk and Operational Excellence Director at Horizon explains, “Regulation is the right thing for young people, to help ensure consistent high quality provision across the country, and the teams have been working incredibly hard to prepare for the registration application window opening in April 2023.

“Horizon is regulation ready. We are excited to showcase our preparedness and to play a leading role in the sector with our robust quality assurance framework and our commitment to high quality outcomes.”

Anne Marie McMahon, Managing Director of Horizon Supported Accommodation says, “We are very proud of the high-quality services that we provide to young people across England, which help them to build bright and fulfilling futures, regardless of the challenges they have faced.

“Our whole team are actively embracing the challenges and opportunities presented by the impending regulation. Becoming Horizon Supported Accommodation and anchoring our service within Horizon’s full range of services to support children and young people is an exciting next chapter in our development and growth.”

The individual needs of young people are at the centre of Horizon’s approach, and their dedicated team helps young people thrive in their new independent lives by offering them support with education, training, and life skills. Horizon offers provision for more than 330 children and care leavers aged 16-17 across England, each with a commitment to deliver high quality outcomes.
