African Drumming Workshop Inspires at Draycott Moor College

This week, Draycott Moor College had the privilege of welcoming David from JOLIBA African Drumming to deliver a dynamic and engaging workshop for our pupils.

Throughout the day, each group had the opportunity to explore the rich history and cultural significance of African drumming and other traditional instruments. Pupils learned about the role of drumming in African communities, connecting music with storytelling, celebration, and communication.

Pupils took part in vibrant music and dance activities., and have also been busy making their own instruments this week, inspired by the traditional craftsmanship of Djembe drums.

The workshop was a hit with everyone involved, offering a fun and educational insight into a different culture while fostering collaboration and creativity. A huge thank you to David from JOLIBA African Drumming for sharing his expertise and passion with our school!
