Bridging the Past: Woodbury’s Trip to Blists Hill

Recently, our Year 10 pupils had the invaluable opportunity to visit Blists Hill Victorian Town, an immersive experience that vividly brought their studies of Victorian Britain to life. This well-preserved Victorian village allowed them to walk through the streets of a bygone era, observing how generations lived, worked, and socialised during the 19th century.

The pupils were particularly engaged as they participated in various activities, from traditional crafts to understanding the workings of a Victorian shop. This hands-on approach helped reinforce their academic lessons by providing tangible connections to the historical events and societal changes they had studied in class.

By witnessing the daily lives of people in Victorian Britain, students could appreciate the significance of their learning in a real-world context. Such experiences not only enhance academic understanding but also cultivate a deeper appreciation for history, making education both meaningful and memorable.
