We’re delighted to share that Great Howarth School has been awarded a Bronze UNICEF UK Rights Respecting Schools Award, officially making us a UNICEF accredited Rights Committed School!
This award reflects the school’s commitment to creating a nurturing environment where children’s rights are at the heart of everything we do.
Great Howarth School has achieved the first Bronze Award, meaning we are officially ‘Rights Committed’ and well on our way to achieving Silver (Rights Aware) and eventually Gold (Rights Respecting).
Through bespoke resources, training, and assessments, Great Howarth School has empowered pupils to engage with critical global topics.
In a Rights Respecting School, it’s not just about what children do – it’s also about what adults do. Together, Great Howarth School fosters an environment where children’s rights are promoted and realised every day, improving wellbeing, participation, relationships, and self-esteem.
Only having embarked on this journey since September, this is a great achievement for our school and for our young people. I’d particularly like to recognise Pete Marriott’s input over the last month or so. Pete has led on this initiative and to reach this milestone so quickly is amazing thanks to Pete’s commitment to the award – and our fabulous pupils of course!
