Great Howarth School is delighted to announce that it has achieved a “Good” rating in all areas following its most recent Ofsted inspection.
The rating for the school in Rochdale reflects the dedication, hard work, and commitment of the entire school community to providing high-quality education for children and young people with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH).
The inspection highlighted several key strengths of Great Howarth School including the school’s safe and nurturing learning environment, effective teaching practices, and the exceptional progress made by students across all year groups.
Key Findings of the Ofsted Report are:
- Great Howarth offers a nurturing and inclusive environment where students feel safe, happy, and supported. Pupils appreciate that their individual needs are central to the school’s decisions, and parents and carers speak highly of the positive impact the school has on their child’s well-being. The report acknowledged the school’s commitment to pupils’ personal development, highlighting a well-designed personal, social, and health education curriculum where pupils learn about safety, both online and offline, and how to maintain their well-being.
- Teachers at Great Howarth School set high expectations for all pupils and are committed to delivering engaging and high-quality lessons. They provide crucial support to help pupils regulate their emotions, enabling them to focus on their work and achieve well. Inspectors praised the school for its effective curriculum and efforts to prepare students for future success.
- The school has successfully instilled a love of reading in pupils, who speak enthusiastically about their favourite books. Staff are well-trained in delivering the reading program and leverage their expertise to design engaging lessons, helping pupils steadily improve their reading skills over time.
