Olympus

Welcome to Olympus

Olympus is an independent specialist day school providing high-quality education for boys and girls. Based in South Croydon, the school meets the diverse needs of pupils aged 11-19 with Special Educational Needs (SEN) including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Needs.

About our School (11-16) and Pathways (16-19)

Our school is located in a quiet area on the edge of ancient woodland, providing the ideal environment for our students to learn and achieve. We have co-regulation rooms on both floors, a sensory activity room, break out classroom, library, science laboratory, computer room and one to one rooms. At Olympus, we have a dedicated team of staff who deliver a broad and balanced curriculum, very similar to the National Curriculum. Students have the opportunity to take qualifications from Entry Level to GCSEs in a range of subjects, choosing options in year 10.

Our pathways provision provides students with a personalised curriculum, which includes English, Maths, PSHE and Work Skills. Many of our students receive staff support to attend college courses or work experience of their choice for part of their week, and our staff work to develop our students’ independence in attending these courses. Community places such as recording studios, riding stables, animal centres and vocational centres are used within students’ personalised timetables.

Olympus curriculum gives our students the chance to succeed in a safe and secure environment, where there are strong relationships that enable the students to experience and celebrate their progress and success. Having students who are secure in school enables them to succeed!

Ethos and Values

Olympus provides inclusive education where positive relationships are at the heart of our community. Through respect and positive connections in our community, our students learn and develop skills for life that will enable them to achieve their goals and be successful in our ever-changing society.

Our aim is for our students to leave being:

  • Responsible and resilient
  • Equipped to make positive choices in life including in relationships
  • Literate and numerate for life
  • Qualified to join college courses, apprenticeships, or work
  • Appreciative of ‘the Arts’
  • Prepared for independent living and able to make healthy living choices
  • Equipped with leadership skills

At Olympus, we are dedicated to preparing our students for successful futures through our comprehensive career support programme.

Make a Referral

Choosing the right school for your child is a critically important decision. We’re here to support you throughout the referral process, helping you understand how our school can meet your child’s needs. We encourage you to visit our school, meet students and staff, and ask any questions you may have.

The referral process begins when local authorities or children’s services request an assessment. After reviewing referral paperwork and documents, such as your child’s EHCP, our Senior Leadership Team works closely with local authorities and parents to determine the best way forward. Most students are referred and placed through their local education authorities, often with support from children’s services and healthcare professionals. Throughout the process, your child remains at the heart of our decisions.
